Free wi-fi was excellent although it did not work at all for a few hours one late afternoon. Breakfast was good with crepe one day and tart the next. In the evening there was folk singing and guitar playing in the main area. This resulted in sleeping on the mattress which had no cover. The bed was a creaky, small double with a fitted sheet that was too small and would not stay on. The loo was down a corridor and was shared with other guests. The room was small with a shower and basin built into one corner. There was then free parking within a short walk down the hill. It was possible to park the car at the entrance to unload the cases.

It was full of home-made art work and new-age touches such as small piles of pebbles. Escaro is a small old mining village, high up a mountain. We stayed here to be near the renowned Monastery St Martin du Caniboo which we were keen to visit. N'hésitez pas à rendre visite à Céline et Jean-Pierre.… Certains ont profité du WIFI, gratuit, et nous avons même fait une soirée-photo avec vidéo-projecteur. D'autant que le rapport qualité/prix est très bien placé. Nous avons découvert un lieu enchanteur, tant par sa situation que par les gens qui le font vivre, et tout le groupe que nous étions ont été très heureux de ce choix. Apéritif sur une terrasse avec une superbe vue sur le Canigou. Nous étions à moto et avons pu les garer dans la cour. Jean-Pierre nous a enchanté avec sa guitare, il faut dire qu'il chantait mes préférés, peut-être serai-je mauvais juge, mais il le fait si bien. Il n'est pas besoin de voir "fait maison" sur une carte pour comprendre qu'il en est question. Un petit déjeuner comme je n'en avais pas fait depuis longtemps. Céline cuisine de vrais délices avec de produits de qualité dont on a tendance à oublier qu'ils existent encore. After a good nights sleep- a light breaky we were off on our next leg.…Ĭe n'est pas un hôtel quatre étoiles, c'est bien mieux ! Rien que l'accueil et la table valent le détour.
While breaky is included - we arrived late and were cooked a 3 course menu by the lovely hostess - Selene The bedroom was comfy with shower and magnificent views of the mountains from the large windows. And another tip- much easier to find if you read the directions "On reaching the village you will have to take the first left after the mining museum and park after the child's play area we are just above (town hall side entrance)" The B & B used to be a school and it has big thick walls to keep the heat in - and the main shared living room is huge and light with knock knacks, art work and musical items every where. A very windy road to get to it but don't be like us and follow the road signs for escaro but follow the trip advisor map as it comes of the highway.
